Action taken:

As per THE DRAP ORDER, the manufacturer of Mebzole and Bioris directed the immediate removal of defective product batches, immediate inventory inspection by pharmacists and chemists, and quarantine of remaining inventory to prevent supply.

Background:

As per THE DRAP ALERT NO. N°I/S/04-24-18, CDL Karachi has declared two batches of oral liquid medicines from M/s Biolab Pvt Ltd, Islamabad, as"sub-standard" due to unacceptable ethylene glycol impurities. Ethylene glycol, a harmful substance, can pose significant health risks, especially in young children, including respiratory depression, metabolic acidosis, kidney damage, and cardiovascular issues.
